CYNTHIANA, Ky. (WKYT) - The Cynthiana-Harrison County-Berry Joint Planning Commission denied a zone change request Thursday night that would have allowed multi-family housing in a senior living community called The Cottages at Flat Run.
The property was previously owned by Harrison Memorial Hospital but was recently bought by GAH Foundation LLC. Recent Powerball winner and Harrison County native Linda Grizzle is part of that group.
The foundation requested a zone change to build what they call affordable senior living triplexes and fourplexes on lots currently zoned for single-family homes.
Community members opposed the change because they worried the original development plans would be ignored after the sale.
