IOWA PARK, Texas — The Hamilton Bulldogs are heading to the state championship game for the first time in program history after a 28-12 win over previously undefeated West Texas in the Class 2A Division I state semifinals on Thursday night.

Hamilton, making its second straight semifinal appearance, trailed early before quarterback Carson Roberts connected with Pierce Summers on a slant route for the Bulldogs’ first touchdown. Hamilton carried a 7-6 lead into halftime.

The Bulldogs opened the second half with a scoring drive capped by senior running back Halston Haile punching in a short touchdown to extend the lead to 14-6.
