An English backpacker who killed a dad-of-two in a drunk e-scooter crash has been jailed in Australia.
Alicia Kemp, 25, from Redditch, Worcestershire, was sentenced in Perth today after pleading guilty to dangerous driving causing death while under the influence of alcohol.
Thanh Phan, 51, an engineer, died after Kemp crashed into him on the pavement in Perth city centre on May 31. She struck Mr Phan from behind at speed of around 20-25km/h (12-15mph).
The dad-of-two was taken to hospital, where he died days later following a bleed on the brain. Kemp, a criminology and psychology graduate, was found to be over Australia’s legal blood alcohol limit when she rode the scooter.
Her friend, who was a passenger on the scooter, suffered a fractured skull and broken nose in the crash.
