WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Wichita Police said a man attempted tampered with responding vehicles and attempted to steal a Wichita Fire Department vehicle during a separate medical call this week.
The call came into an apartment complex in the 3600 block of W. 13th Street on Tuesday at around 5:45 p.m.
When an ambulance arrived, crew members were gathering their equipment to go into the apartment to treat the patient.
At that time, police said a suspect got into the ambulance, acted erratically and distracted the crew.
According to police, while crew members walked to the apartment, they saw the suspect try to enter a supervisor’s locked EMS vehicle. The doors were locked.
Police said that when EMS entered the apartment, Fire Department personnel were already performing CPR on the patient.
