HIGHLANDS, N.C. —
Authorities have determined that the 911 caller who claimed he was going to shoot a "pedophile" who worked at a North Carolina church was a hoax or “swatting” incident.
Highlands police said a man made the call about 10:40 a.m. Thursday threatening to shoot at a staff member at the Highlands Episcopal Church.
"I swear to God, if the police come in. If the police come into the church, I will (expletive) kill them because I'm not having a pedophile walk our (expletive) streets," the caller said.

The caller went on to say he was "already around the corner" and "had a gun."
Once the call was made, authorities arrived at the church and put it on lockdown.
Police also placed the surrounding area on lockdown, including nearby businesses
