Two men are facing drug trafficking and firearms charges after police deployed a spike strip to stop a fleeing vehicle in east Alberta near the Saskatchewan border.
On Wednesday, at around 2:20 p.m., Elk Point RCMP officers pursuing a drug trafficking and weapons investigation attempted to stop a vehicle out of Onion Lake, Sask., in the area of Frog Lake, Alta., police said in a Friday news release.
Police said the driver refused to stop and fled the scene. Additional police were called to respond, and a spike strip was successfully deployed, stopping the vehicle. Two men were arrested without incident.
Police searched the vehicle and seized a set of brass knuckles, ammunition, methamphetamine and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
