NORTH CAROLINA, USA — A new, approximately 12-mile stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway is now open in Western North Carolina, the National Park Service announced on Monday.
Blue Ridge Parkway officials said the new section runs from milepost 305.2, near Beacon Heights and U.S. 221, to milepost 317.5, close to U.S. 221 at the Linville Falls community access point.
The National Park Service expects to open several more sections in the coming weeks and months. They closed the road after Hurricane Helene caused a landslide and left behind large amounts of debris on the roadway.
The National Park Service also said that the Linville Falls spur road, campground, picnic area, and visitor center remain closed because of damage from Helene.
