NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - A scam scare shocked Jessamine County Wednesday night.
Police tell us that around 7 p.m., a very frantic mother came into the Kroger on Main Street believing her daughter had been abducted. She was trying to get money. Police say someone contacted her and led her to believe her daughter was in danger.
“She told someone there that her daughter had been abducted and that she was being instructed on how to Western Union money to them,” explained Nicholasville Police PIO Sam Wade.
A bystander called police just before the parent left the grocery store.
“Several other witnesses were pointing to police about the vehicle leaving,” Wade said. “Officers that responded, thinking that the child was in that vehicle, attempted to stop that vehicle.”
