Fewer students in grades 7-12 are abandoning their studies at Mesa Public Schools, which will help toward the district’s goal of a 90% graduation rate by 2027.

Dropouts are students who have been enrolled for at least one day of the school year but withdrew and have not enrolled in another school. The district’s graduation rate was 81.15% for 2023-24, according to the state’s latest data.

“Overall, we have been declining over the past three years in our dropout rate,” said Dr. Kristi Glassmeyer, senior research analyst and business intelligence lead. “So, happy, happy news.”

Broken down by grade, the numbers show some tremendous decreases across all four high school grades, Glassmeyer said in an update at the July 22 Governing Board meeting.
