While rain may have temporarily drenched the roads, cars and hay bales, it failed to dampen the spirits of the Nelson County community at Saturday’s Nelson Night Out.

Children, parents and grandparents came out to the event, orchestrated by the county’s public safety departments, at Nelson County High School to get to know those who provide the residents with life-saving services.

Nelson County Sheriff Mark Embrey described the drive behind the community event.

“This is about bringing our community together with its first responders, law enforcement, fire and rescue so that they can get to know … the people that come and save their lives,” he said.
