EVANSTON, Ill. (WMBD) -- Illinois students will soon have access to mental health resources after the Governor signed a new bill.
On Thursday, Governor JB Pritzker joined State Superintendent Dr. Tony Sanders, Chief Officer for Children’s Behavioral Health Transformation Dr. Dana Weiner, bill sponsors, and local elected officials to sign Senate Bill 1560, according to a release from the Governor.
It said the bill offers cost-free mental health screening tools to public schools in Illinois, as well as informs parents and caregivers about the Behavioral Health Care and Ongoing Navigation, or BEACON portal.
