Steinbach RCMP are investigating a possible drowning after a man went missing while swimming Saturday afternoon at Reynolds Ponds in the RM of Reynolds.

Officers were called to the scene around 2 p.m. on August 2 after bystanders reported the man had gone underwater and did not resurface. People at the scene attempted to find him but were unsuccessful.

The Manitoba RCMP Underwater Recovery Team was brought in to assist with the search. A 70-year-old man from Ontario was later located deceased.

Steinbach RCMP continue to investigate the incident as a possible drowning.

Another drowning reported Saturday evening

Later that same day, Selkirk RCMP were called to Grand Beach at around 8 p.m. for another reported drowning.
