The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office on July 26 initiated “Operation Crossover Crackdown,” a traffic enforcement initiative that targets speeding offenses along the U.S. 29 corridor at, or near, main intersecting roadways.

During the course of the initiative, deputies issued a total of 18 summons for speeding, reckless driving and other motor vehicle-related offenses, according to the sheriff office’s Facebook page. The page displayed images of two summons that both occurred from vehicles approaching the intersection of U.S. 29 North and Virginia 6 (Irish Road).

“This is a very busy intersection for both passenger and commercial vehicle traffic, which has also seen some very serious motor vehicle crashes within the past 12 months,” the Nelson sheriff office’s Facebook post states. “Our Off
