ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A weekend party at a short-term rental ended in chaos in the Carondelet neighborhood, leaving a 17-year-old girl shot and neighbors rattled by gunfire.

“I mean it was just gunshots and screaming. I looked out my front window right after we heard some really loud ones and we had kids hiding on our front porch,” said Amanda Arney, who lives nearby.

The shooting broke out early Sunday morning at a home listed on both Airbnb and VRBO. Neighbors say bullets shattered windows and damaged several vehicles.

“It’s amazingly irresponsible,” said Arney.

The incident is renewing concerns about the growing number of short-term rentals in the area.
