For those traveling along 14th Street on Aug. 5, the evening route may be a bit crowded, as National Night Out is taking over Frankfort Square.

From 6-8 p.m., the Columbus Police Department, Columbus Fire Department, Nebraska State Patrol, Platte County Sheriff's Department, Centro Hispano, the East Central Health District and more will hold a "night out" for families to meet first responders and local nonprofits.

"National Night Out is a community building campaign," Columbus Police Captain Doug Molczyk said. "It's about partnering with the community and building those partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie."
