RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The suspect charged in connection with a series of shootings on Interstate 40 last November has been deemed incapable to stand trial by a Wake County judge, a court filing shows.

Superior Court Judge Douglas Green found 24-year-old Andrew Thomas Graney of Raleigh incapable of standing trial and ordered him to be committed to Central Regional Hospital, according to court documents.

The commitment order issued by Green said the reason for this decision comes after a doctor found Graney has "inadequately treated schizophrenia". It also said Graney had repeatedly harmed himself while in custody.
