BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. —

A Blount County family is rebuilding their lives after a lightning strike destroyed their home last week, leaving them with nothing but the support of their community.

Randall Green was a couple of miles away from his house when he heard the lightning strike.

"Everybody jumped, and I made the statement that whatever that hit, they'll know it," Green said.

Shortly after, Green received a call informing him that his house had been hit.

"On the way over here, I called 911, which another family friend had seen it too, and he had called 911. I was here approximately a minute, two minutes, and it had done broke through the roof. Within 24 minutes, the house was completely gone," Green said.
