BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The Birmingham Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office have been working together to make your streets safer through Operation Unity Shield.
Operation Unity Shield was carried out on Thursday, July 31, 2025, and resulted in 75 arrests, including 18 felony arrests.
Law enforcement leaders say it’s all a part of a shared mission to keep your communities safer.
The agencies involved said when they unite, barriers fall and communities rise.
Both Jefferson County Sheriff Mark Pettway and Birmingham Police Chief Michael Pickett praised involvement from neighbors and urged people to continue calling in tips they may have about crimes.
