CENTERVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) -- Earning the rank of Eagle Scout is no small feat. It takes years of hard work and dedication. For one Centerville teen, Lucas Bright, it has also become a chance to help people fighting cancer.
Bright is a member of Troop 516. He is using his Eagle project to organize a 5K road race benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, a group that supports blood cancer patients and their families.
"I've seen a lot of people in our community affected by chemo," Bright said. "I know how the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the LLS, has helped those people. So I wanted to do something to give back to them and to help support them."
Bright said his inspiration came from watching a local family's fight with childhood leukemia.
