The trial of a man accused of being an accomplice in the 2022 slaying of two people at a Birchwood Homes residence began Tuesday morning.

Kapri Raymond Willis, 22, faces two counts of felony first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of 18-year-old Rachel Wright and 28-year-old Ricardo Duperior on Aug. 7, 2022. He also faces two charges of felony tampering with a witness from June 2025.

Assistant District Attorney Kathryn Mason told the jury that when shots rang out at a Birchwood Homes house that August day, “These weren’t just gunshots. No, these shots were the death knells of Ricardo Duperior and Rachel Wright.”
