A Fairbanks jury convicted a former Yukon-Koyukuk School District administrative assistant Thursday of using a school credit card to make $35,000 in personal purchases.
Lataushia Shajuan Blackmer, 50, was found guilty of felony first-degree theft and felony scheme to defraud. Retired Judge Mark Wood is scheduled to sentence Blackmer on Jan. 16, 2026, at the Rabinowitz Courthouse in Fairbanks.
Blackmer was hired in July 2018 and used a school district credit card to embezzle approximately $35,000 between September 2018 and July 2019. She used the school purchase card, or “p-card,” to make dozens of personal purchases from Fred Meyer, Walmart, Joann, Michael’s, Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Pier 1, Office Depot, and Barnes & Noble.
