KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A new "Char Bar" location is coming to the Kansas City metro.

On Tuesday night, the Olathe City Council approved the construction of a downtown Char Bar at the site of the former fire station and parks and recreation office, marking its first location in Kansas.

The popular barbecue restaurant, bar and entertainment venue will be brought to life by partners James Westphal and Mark Kelpe.

According to their plans, the 26,271-square-foot space will feature seven pickleball courts, outdoor yard games, a two-story fire pit and an outdoor lounge. It will also maintain its popular food and drink offerings, with authentic southern-style barbecue and signature cocktails, the Olathe Chamber of Commerce said.
