FAYETTEVILLE — Several vehicles were left stranded Tuesday at the intersection of Old Farm Road and Johnson Lane in Fayetteville after attempting to drive through floodwaters, highlighting the growing danger posed by recent heavy rains across Lawrence County.

Video taken at the scene shows multiple cars stuck in the water, which had risen high enough to submerge much of the roadway. Local roads throughout the county have seen similar conditions after days of intense rainfall overwhelmed ditches, drains, and low-lying areas.
