KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) -- After many years of public service at the state and local levels, an area mayor is set to retire.
Kettering Mayor Peggy Lehner confirmed Wednesday that she will not seek reelection in November.
Lehner was first elected to the Kettering City Council in 2001, and served until 2008.
She served for one month as an appointed Ohio senator at the Ohio Statehouse before being elected to the Ohio House of Representatives. While in the Ohio House, Lehner served as the chairperson of the Ohio Education Committee.
In 2010, Lehner went back to serving as a state senator. The elected official returned to Kettering in 2021, where she has served ever since as Kettering mayor.
During Lehner's career, she said her role with at OEC was most vital.
