KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- One person was hurt in an Overland Park house fire Wednesday evening, August 6, the Overland Park Fire Department says.
OPFD says that around 6 p.m., units from OPFD and the Leawood Fire Department were sent to a fire at 98th Street and Metcalf Lane. When they arrived, they found smoke coming from a single-story duplex.
It was reported that one person was still stuck inside when units arrived. However, firefighters found that person and brought them to safety. OPFD says the person was inside looking for a cat.
OPFD says that the person was sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation. The cat is reportedly unharmed.
The fire department says that it only took around 10 minutes to bring the fire under control. The kitchen area of the duplex is reportedly damaged, and two
