WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Every weekend John Clark says he hears people doing burnouts and doughnuts at a parking lot in Sim Park from his house.

“It’s just the engines revving and as they go it’s just the screeching and it’s not just ten minutes,” said Clark, “it’s twenty minutes, a half hour, it’s forty five minutes.”

Right now the city’s plan to stop street racing in the area involves two sets of security gates that block off the road leading into and out of Sim Park every night at 9:00pm. The gates also block off the parking lot Clark says drivers gather at most frequently. Clark says something more needs to be done though because he’s heard street racers in the area as early as 5:00pm or 6:00pm.
