KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — An investigation is underway after a sign in a church parking lot was damaged.

On July 15 at 7:48 p.m., Knox County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church for a report about a hit and run. On the scene, officers found the sign in the front parking lot damaged, with the top disconnected from the brick base and several bricks knocked loose.

A witness told officers that he saw a white dually truck pulling a "tri-axle box trailer" pull past his home on Buttermilk Road and then back into the church parking lot. According to the report, the witness said there wasn't damage to the truck when he first saw it, but when it pulled out of the church's parking lot, there was damage to the passenger side.
