UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Missouri State Senator Brian Williams announced Thursday he is running for St. Louis County Executive in 2026.

Williams, of University City, has served in the state senate since 2019. Thursday, he announced he intends to seek the Democratic nomination, challenging Dr. Sam Page, who has said he intends to run for a third term as county executive.

The announcement comes more than a week after Page was indicted by a grand jury on two counts of committing class four election offense: public funds expenditure by a political subdivision officer or employee, one count of stealing $25,000 or more and one count of stealing $750 or more. Page is accused of using public money to advocate for a ballot issue.
