KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Thursday was the first day for Knox County Schools. As they kicked off the school year, parents, teachers and students shared their excitement.

At Bonny Kate Elementary School, Principal Bill Baldwin said they were ready to hit the ground running.

“When we get to the first day on Friday, they're going to jump right into the curriculum,” he said. “They're going to jump right into the teaching and the learning, teaching expectations, but also diving right into that material, getting these students a head start for the year.”

Coming from Central High School, Thursday was also Baldwin’s first day at Bonny Kate Elementary, and teachers said there are some good changes coming.
