ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A 35-year-old woman died after being found unresponsive in the Monroe County Jail after she was found in her cell by deputies.

Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office were doing security rounds at the jail just before 7:40 a.m. when they found an unresponsive person in a cell. Law enforcement began CPR and used an AED while waiting for additional first responders to arrive.

The woman was taken to Strong Hospital where she was pronounced dead one hour after deputies found her body.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said the woman was remanded to custody two days prior for outstanding warrants. Investigators said this appears to have been a medical issue, pending the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office findings.
