BIG PRAIRIE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 24-year-old was hospitalized after he was pulled from a Newaygo County pond unconscious, deputies said.
Just after 1 p.m., the Newaygo County Sheriff's Office and neighboring fire departments were called to Operator’s Village Day Park at Hardy Dam in Big Prairie Township for a drowning, deputies said.
Arriving crews from the Big Prairie and Croton townships’ fire departments found a 24-year-old White Cloud man under the water and pulled him to shore. He did not have a pulse, according to deputies, but first responders immediately started CPR.
He eventually got a pulse back and was taken to a Big Rapids hospital and later taken by helicopter to a Grand Rapids hospital, where he’s listed in “critical condition,” the sheriff's office said.
