MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — The first cat cafe in Muskegon is opening Tuesday, serving up more than lattes and kitten cuddles. The Whisker Room is not only helping cats find a forever home, but also empowering people with disabilities by helping them develop job skills.
The cafe's mission, which is on display in the cat room, is to be a place “where cats find homes and people find purpose.”
Mary Christman, a longtime Muskegon resident, passed by the new storefront Thursday afternoon. As an animal and coffee lover, she said she was excited about the concept.
"I was really happy to see this was coming here,” she said. “Muskegon can always use a lovely little cafe… (Knowing its mission) makes it even more special.”
