KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Representative Tim Burchett said he would be honored to move into a seat in the U.S. Senate if Sen. Marsha Blackburn wins the race for governor of Tennessee .
Burchett toured Mechman Alternators in Knoxville on Thursday. During the tour, he spoke about topics including both tariffs and their impact on the company, as well as Blackburn's race for governor.
He described the situation as complicated because if she wins and is elected into the position, she would appoint the next senator to finish the remainder of her term. But if she resigns before the election, Gov. Lee could appoint someone to that Senate seat.
Regardless, he said would be honored to become senator if given the opportunity.
