FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) — Something is missing from Shoals Community Theatre in downtown Florence, and it's something that is a Shoals staple.

“It’s literally a landmark for the shoals,” Theatre interim manager Chelsea Keeton said.

The marquee Shoals sign has been taken down, for now.

“People were freaking out, they thought it was going to be gone forever…” Theatre Administrator Chelsea Wassner said.

But the sign is not gone for good.

“We are just getting it a facelift, it’s going to be gone for about 6ish weeks, and then it’s getting some paint and then some of the lights repaired on it,” Keeton said.

Shoals Theatre opened in 1948, and had a sign that looked just like the current Marquee. In 2007, an anonymous donor remade the original sign, and that same donor is paying for the repai
