(PINPOINT WEATHER) -- Besides the very first day of August when it was a hot 93 degrees, what a cool month it's been so far!

Highs this week have been mainly in the 60s and 70s, along with plenty of cloud cover and periods of rain. This pattern will gradually come to an end over the weekend.

After starting the day under a cloudy sky Friday, the afternoon will look a little brighter with more breaks of sunshine expected. Temperatures will respond and warm to around 80 degrees. As for any rain, there won't be much. Only a couple spotty showers are possible, but nothing to worry about for the Panthers preseason game at 7 p.m.!

The weekend will get warmer yet with highs reaching the low- and mid-80s. It will still be on the cloudy side, but again with low rain and storm chances.
