A Paterson man was arrested Wednesday following a fatal stabbing on a city street, authorities said.

Davon Washington is charged with first-degree murder and weapons offenses in the death of a 37-year-old city man whose name has not been released.

The stabbing occurred about 6:25 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Rosa Parks Bouleveard and Hamilton Avenue in Paterson, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes.

Arriving officers found the victim with a single stab wound, authorities said. He was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Valdes said the investigation led detectives to Washington, who was arrested without incident.
