MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — As students of Mobile County Public Schools prepare for classes on Monday, bus drivers are getting ready for the start of the school year as well.
Around 600 of MCPSS bus drivers are going through training this week to ensure their riders are safe this year. “Every driver has to get recertified by the state of Alabama. And so, a state person comes in and teaches them the safety measures," Rena Philips, Communications Director for MCPSS, said. From Monday to Wednesday, drivers did virtual training that focused on the basics of keeping kids healthy and safe. Today, they went through all the policies and procedures. Tomorrow, the drivers will pick up their inspected buses and practice their routes. Mobile County is the largest public school system in the state of Alabam
