CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - A family of five is now homeless, given just days to move out because their rental house in Cedar Rapids was deemed too dangerous to live in.
So dangerous, it put one of them in the hospital.
“We’ve lost everything in this house,” Sarahmarie Grendler said.
Grendler has lived in their home in Southwest Cedar Rapids with her husband and their three kids for four years.
But it wasn’t until this May that Grendler spotted what she believed to be black mold growing in her basement and alerted her landlord, Robert Tri.
But Grendler said he didn’t fix it.
“He came and ripped out the shower and just left it all there,” Grendler said.
Then in July, Grendler said breathing problems put her in the hospital and ICU.
