NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A retired Metro Nashville Police Department therapy dog is a semi-finalist in a national competition.
Sgt. Bo is a semi-finalist in the 15th Annual Hero Dog Awards Therapy Dog category.
According to the competition, the dogs in the Therapy category “help transform lives as part of therapeutic plans to aid with physical, social, emotional and cognitive challenges.”

MNPD announced the retirement of Sgt. Bo and his handler Officer Faye Okert on July 7. Okert served MNPD for more than 30 years, while Sgt. Bo joined the force in 2023, just two months before the deadly shooting at The Covenant School in March of that year.
