While defense industry leaders are still waiting for design plans for Golden Dome - the Trump administration’s national missile shield - they know some of the work will likely be done in north Alabama.

That’s because some of the technology that will serve as the foundation for that shield is already being developed at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, according to officials with companies based here and the area’s representative in Congress. The Golden Dome defense envisions a comprehensive defense system that could combine various interceptor systems, space-based sensors and directed energy weapons like lasers or microwaves.
