The National Weather Service on Friday warned of moderate heat risk this weekend into early next week before a cooling trend.
Western Nevada valleys could hit a 100 degrees Fahrenheit by Monday, the NWS said.
“Currently we have a trough exiting the western U.S. and moving into the northern Great Plains and high pressure is building in behind it. High pressure building in means, you guessed it, warmer temps,” said the Friday forecast.
However, the heat could be short-lived in what has been a relatively mild summer.
“Our heat can only last so long though,” the NWS said. “Wednesday, our temperatures take a hit and another trough pushes the high pressure off east. We start a cooling trend each day through the end of the week. By Friday, western NV valleys and NE CA will be in the low 90s a
