NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell said he understands residents' concerns about a proposed waste transfer facility, but stressed that the city worked to secure the best deal possible.
The $30 million facility, proposed for Duchaine Boulevard, would process about 1,500 tons of waste per day, including garbage to recycling.
During a taping of Newsmakers Friday, Mitchell told 12 News he would prefer a different type of development at the site in the North End's industrial park, but the city was left with limited options.
