The South Carolina Department of Public Transportation has announced a major traffic shift on Interstate 85 in Spartanburg and Cherokee counties, as the widening project reaches its final stage.
SCDOT said in a release that I-85 is in its final traffic configuration with all three lanes open in each direction.
Crews will continue to work on the driving surface of the newly opened inside lanes, SCDOT said.
According to SCDOT, drivers can expect overnight closures for final paving activities in the coming weeks.
SCDOT said these closures will be displayed on digital message boards throughout the project.
SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention to signs and crews when driving near work zones.
