SAN ANTONIO — Project Cool has launched its campaign to provide free box fans to senior citizens this summer. The project works to prevent heat-related illness and deaths during the hot summer months in San Antonio and the surrounding area. The goal is to provide low-cost, low-energy fans for seniors to keep cool without causing high utility bills. The average fan costs between $20-$30, which some seniors may not be able to afford.

The coalition supporting Project Cool includes the City of San Antonio Department of Human Services, United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and Catholic Charities.
