LAKEWOOD, Ohio — Everything went St. Edward’s way the first two weeks of its OHSAA football state championship defense. The Eagles were on the road to a fourth straight Division I crown with a shutout and signature victory against a nationally ranked opponent.
Everything changed after running back Brandon White tore his ACL.
St. Edward played the rest of the 2024 season without its leading rusher. While it led to a record-breaking season in the passing game for receiver Zach Hackleman, he then endured an injury in Week 10 that halted his junior year.
St. Edward still made the state semifinals, but could not make it to Canton. With White and Hackleman back and healthy, the Eagles have their sights set on a fourth crown in five years.
“With us coming back, we’re looking good right now,”
