SANTA CLARA, Calif. • Broncos safety P.J. Locke said he really did grow an inch after spinal fusion surgery early this year.
Broncos safety Brandon Jones revealed the growth recently. Locke confirmed it after Saturday’s 30-9 preseason win over the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium.
“They put a space between my L4 and L5 (vertebrae),’’ Locke said. “The doctor told me before the surgery, ‘Don’t be surprised if you gain an inch.' We marked off the spot in the kitchen before the surgery and we did it again after the surgery and it was (an inch gained). It was crazy.’’
The Broncos still list Locke as 5-foot-10 on the roster. He laughed when it was suggested it should be changed to 5-11.
