COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- It’s time for families to start preparing to go back to school; that includes not just buying school supplies and clothes, but getting kids back into a routine.
“Kids need routines because it helps them feel secure. It helps them expect what’s going to happen, and we all, in general, like to know what to expect,” said Dr. Whitney Raglin Bignall, associate clinical director at the Kids Mental Health Foundation.
She said it’s best to start practicing a routine before school starts.
“We really want to give them a few weeks to get back into it, especially when we think of things such as sleep,” Raglin Bignall said.
She said at the very least, parents should be communicating with their children about what’s expected in this new routine.
“Make sure we’re on the same
