BANDON, Ore. (WILX) - Recent Michigan State graduate Brooke Biermann battled for 33 holes on Sunday but fell to Stanford University’s Megha Ganne, 4 and 3, in the final round of the USGA Women’s Amateur Championship at Bandon Dunes in Oregon.
After placing 41st in the stroke play round of the tournament, Biermann won five straight 18-hole rounds of match play to reach the 36-hole final.
In the final, Biermann and Ganne were tied through 11 holes before Biermann bogeyed the next three holes to put Ganne 3-up. Ganne led the rest of the match from that point, eventually winning 4 and 3.
