WASHINGTON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - A Washington County father-son duo is utilizing their hobby of collecting Washington County Civil War and World War II artifacts to preserve the community’s history.

“This is my Great Great Uncle Charles Polton,” said Caedyn Huston of Wellman.

Huston has collected stories and artifacts of all of those who served in World War II from Washington County and printed each of their stories in a book as part of a fair project.

“Seeing the sacrifices they made and everything they went through really sparked my interest and just decided I wanted to learn, more,” said Huston.
