PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A man was taken into custody after an armed standoff with police in southeast Portland Sunday, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

At about 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a welfare check in the area of Southeast 170th Avenue and Southeast Division Street. When they arrived, police said they found a man barricaded inside the home, and “likely armed.”

PPB called for support from tactical crews and crisis negotiator teams.

Police said the man refused to follow commands for the next couple of hours. Finally, shortly before 9 p.m., the man came out of the home and was taken into custody.

The man was then taken to a hospital for medical care, police said.

Officers said they also seized a gun..

Southeast Division Street was closed in the area for several hours.
